How did dissatisfaction contribute to the creation of Linda Mwananchi?
Osotsi explained the origin of the movement, linking it to dissatisfaction with the current direction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the death of Raila.
He said that the party, which was known for fighting for democratic reforms and defending ordinary citizens, has now deviated from its original goals.
The senator noted that the group was formed by people who wanted to preserve what he called the original vision and aspirations of ODM under the leadership of Raila.
“Linda Mwananchi, we decided to form this group because we felt that ODM, which was a party founded by Raila for this country, a party that was fighting for Kenyans, democracy, and social problems, has now been turned into a government body,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the direction of the movement, saying its organizers are already seeing positive signs of growth and support from the public.
Despite growing speculation about the group’s political future, including the possibility of turning into a political party, Osotsi insisted that they have not made that decision yet.
He explained that although the movement continues to organize itself and expand its presence, it has not yet reached the stage of becoming a political party.
“Let me say this. We have our strategy and our time. We don’t want people to predict what we will do next while we ourselves are still working on it. What I can say is that we have not yet reached the stage of turning ourselves into a political party,” he said.
The senator also revealed that the group recently held a strategic meeting to assess its performance and plan future directions.
