What warning did Oburu give Ruto?
Speaking in the County of Poisonous on Friday, April 17, Oburu, who has returned to the country, said that although ODM values its working relationship with UDA, some of the statements from senior leaders in the ruling party have crossed the line.

“We respect the relationship we have with the party. And I, personally, have a good relationship with the honorable president, who is the leader of the party,” Oburu said.
However, Oburu did not hesitate to suggest that Ruto, as party leader, has a responsibility to address the conduct of his officials to reduce the growing friction between the two parties.
“But he should punish them and talk to some of these senior officials of his party. That’s what we’re saying. I think that’s what we said and I’m just clarifying. I think that’s what we said,” he added.
Is the relationship between ODM and UDA deteriorating?
Oburu’s remarks come at a time when the relationship between ODM and UDA you seem to be more difficult, despite their cooperation under a comprehensive government program.
His remarks echoed concerns previously expressed by the ODM Central Management Committee, which recently demanded respect from its political ally.
Among the recent results are the statements of UDA secretary general Hassan Omar, who publicly criticized the Deputy Leader of the ODM Party and the governor of Mombasa Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir.
Omar announced that Nassir should not be considered for a second term, a statement that fueled political debate and was interpreted as meddling in ODM’s internal affairs.

Governor of Homa Bay Gladys Wanga and Minority Leader in Parliament Junet Mohamed have all publicly defended ODM’s political position, warning against attempts to undermine its influence.
Wanga indicated that the party will take decisive action to protect its base of support and parliamentary power, amid allegations that some government officials were supporting opposition candidates against the ODM incumbents.
Junet, for his part, signaled his readiness to escalate the political rivalry if the apparent hostility continues.
