According to the Taifa Today report, the chain of sad events started when Mwenda visited the children at their home while they were playing.

It is alleged that he brought them yogurt which they drank without any doubt, but later it turned out that it had been mixed with poison.

Shortly after, the neighbors became concerned after noticing an unusual silence in the compound, and their fears were confirmed when they discovered Mwenda’s body hanging inside the house.

Nearby, the two children were found unconscious, with visible head injuries. They were rushed to the hospital, but the doctors’ efforts to save them were unsuccessful.

The chief of Thubuku area, Bartholomew Mwika, said the initial results indicate a chain of terrible events.

He said that Mwenda may have poisoned the children, then attacked them before taking his own life.

An investigation has been launched to determine in detail the exact circumstances that caused the tragic deaths.

Family members and local leaders have described a man who was going through personal and financial challenges in the months leading up to the incident.

Mwenda had separated from his wife following frequent marital disputes and had returned to live at his parents’ home.
