A close friend of the deceased Anita Mugweru, a 29-year-old woman from Nakuru who was allegedly killed by her husband, KDF Captain Edwin Kaunga, has shared a horrific account.

Kaunga allegedly killed Anita a few days ago by stabbing her to death, while their son testified in fear; he is currently being held by the police.

Information received by TUKO.co.ke shows that the military officer stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife while they were arguing at home about alleged infidelity.

According to the housekeeper, Anita was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

“The two were accusing each other of being unfaithful and the husband stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife. The deceased was rushed by good Samaritans to the Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” said the police report.

Anita Mugweru’s close friend speaks

Now it emerges that the captain of KDF he was threatening his wife frequently and there were frequent conflicts between them.

This is according to Anita’s close friend, who said that the news of her killing did not surprise her due to the threats she was receiving from her husband.

He claimed that the suspect had told Anita many times that he would end her life.

The girl who was killed is a very close friend of mine. And he has been telling her that he will end her life. When I heard the news, I knew without a doubt that he was the one who killed Anita. He deserves to rot in jail for the rest of his life,” he said in a Facebook discussion.

This was also confirmed by her mother Anita, who tearfully recounted the many times her daughter used to tell her about her husband’s threats.

Kenyans are now joining Anita’s family to demand justice following her brutal murder, while also condemning the increase in cases of murder of women in Nakuru county.

Pesh Chino B said: “These days, before you get married, understand the family history. Many children have been raised in broken marriages, and some in abusive marriages. These people are already carrying past wounds, and they expect that gap to be filled by their partner.”

Liz Ngoche said: “‘Marriage is endurance’ has cost many women their lives.”

Margaret Maina said: “Women, oh women, why don’t you learn from the experiences of others, why don’t you wait to learn through your own experiences?
