Nakuru – The family of Anita Nyambura Mugweru has mourned after she was allegedly stabbed to death by her estranged husband.

Kenya Defense Forces officer Captain Edwin Kaunga Muthoni, who lives in the Gilgil Army Camp, stabbed his wife to death in a dispute at their home in the County of Nakuru.
How did the Nakuru murder incident involving a KDF officer happen?
According to a report filed at the Nakuru Police Station by a domestic worker, the tragic incident happened at St Mary’s on Tuesday, April 14.

“It was reported by Neume Winnie, a resident of St Mary’s, a 23-year-old Ugandan citizen and the housekeeper of the deceased, namely Ann Mugweru, a 29-year-old Kikuyu woman who was an accountant at the ICC College in Nakuru county. She reported that at their home, the deceased had an argument with her husband, namely Edwin Kaunga, a 29-year-old Meru man and a KDF worker of the rank of captain in the Camp of the Gilgil Army,” the report reads.
The couple’s housekeeper told the police that the deceased, an accountant at ICC College, had been quarreling with her husband over alleged infidelity.
During an argument, the husband took a kitchen knife and stabbed Anita in front of their four-year-old son and the housekeeper.
The housekeeper, the child and a neighbor rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
“The two were accusing each other of being unfaithful when the husband stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife. The deceased was rushed by Good Samaritans to Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the report read.
Police officers from the Nakuru Police Station, including DCI East Nakuru and CSI staff, visited the scene and succeeded in arresting the suspect.
Did Edwin Kaunga threaten Anita Mugweru?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Anita’s family said their daughter had made several reports to the police about her husband’s frequent threats, but no action was taken.

It was revealed that during the Easter Holidays Edwin was briefly arrested by officers from the Teachers Police Station for threatening Anita, but was released under controversial circumstances.
The family expressed fear that justice may not be served, due to the suspect’s connections within the security agencies.
He had made several attempts to end their relationship, and had arranged a family meeting for Saturday, April 18, to officially end their union before he was killed.
“This is not the first time; my daughter had gone through a lot of pain, and we had planned to meet on Saturday for a meeting aimed at ending their relationship,” said the grieving mother.
According to the family, Anita was shouldering the financial burden, including paying the rent and helping Edwin with money, as he was going through financial challenges.

“Anita was doing everything in the house, including paying the rent. In fact, she was welcoming him, and at one point she told him to go back to his wife, as things were not going well between them,” a family member said.
What happened before Ann Nyawira recovered?
In another sad news, a family in Kirinyaga was left in mourning after their 48-year-old missing relative was found dead and his body dumped near Kabare Shopping Center along Kutus-Kimunye Road.
Ann Nyawira’s family became worried when they could not reach her on Saturday, April 11, and asked her husband, Daniel Gichira, about her whereabouts.
Gichira, who is from Gichuru, is said to have informed them that Nyawira had gone to visit his sister in Mwea. Worried, they went to Mwea but did not find him.
