Players will miss the first leg of the semi-final if they are shown yellow cards, due to UEFA rules.
UEFA rules on yellow cards
Article 63 of the UEFA rules on yellow and red cards states that,
“Starting from the first match in the league phase, players and team officials are suspended for the next match of the competition after three yellow cards, which did not result in a red card, and also after yellow cards with an odd number (fifth, seventh, ninth).”

Yellow cards are canceled after the quarter-finals to ensure that players do not miss the final due to accumulated yellow cards, but the risk still exists in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
