The minister made a statement early Wednesday, April 22, after the report of Daily Nation involving him together with Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and his colleague from Gatundu North, Elijah Kururia, in protecting people who are alleged to have invaded the main land.

The Mbugua family, who filed the case, claimed that more than 200 people, backed by celebrities and security officials, had taken over the 300-acre property, which also houses the Paradise Lost entertainment centre.

Does Murkomen know about the disputed Runda land?

Commenting on the matter, Murkomen called the post a hoax, claiming that it was ‘based on rumours, speculations, and wild claims.’

“The Minister of the Cabinet has been attracted by the false and satanic allegations circulating in one of the daily newspapers that claim to involve him in the land dispute. The Minister of the Cabinet does not have even an iota of personal interest in the property. In fact, he does not have any knowledge about the claimed land, its location, or the existence of the land dispute,” he said in a statement signed by Julius Sigei, head of the Communications Office of the Secretary of the Cabinet, Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Murkomen denied the plaintiff’s claim that he was conducting police patrols, saying that the presence of the police in the area was based on their normal duties and did not indicate his interest in the properties.

Furthermore, the Minister said that they do not instruct the police in their daily activities.

At the same time, according to Daily, the court has asked to order the anti-corruption organization to investigate the three for allegedly contributing to the confiscation of relevant assets.
