Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has expressed optimism that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are on course to forge a formidable political partnership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking yesterday in Malava during the funeral of Mama Rael Mukangai, mother to the County’s Chief Officer for Financial Management, Diminah Chikamai, Governor Barasa said the growing cooperation between the two parties signals a new era of strategic alignment.
He pointed to the recent Malava by-election, where ODM and UDA coordinated their efforts as a clear demonstration of what unity can achieve.
Barasa noted that sustained collaboration between the parties will not only consolidate their support base but also enhance their competitiveness on the national stage.
At the same time, the Governor reaffirmed Western Kenya’s political trajectory, stating that the region remains firmly behind President William Ruto and will continue to support his leadership up to 2032.
He emphasized that the region is already laying the groundwork to produce Kenya’s sixth President.
With an estimated voting strength of eight million, Barasa said Western Kenya holds significant political influence that, if strategically harnessed, can propel one of its own to the country’s top leadership in the 2032 elections.
