Chelsea fired Liam Rosenior after 3 months
Rosenior is leaving the club, having only joined in January to replace Enzo Maresca.
His last game in charge was a 3-0 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion, which was Chelsea’s fifth straight win in the league.
In an official statement, Chelsea revealed that it was a difficult decision to take, but recent results left them with no choice. Rosenior leaves the club in seventh place, seven points behind Liverpoolwhich takes the last place in the Champions League.
The sixth-placed side can still qualify for next season’s Champions League, but will need Aston Villa to finish fifth and win the Europa League for that to happen.
“Liam has conducted himself in a highly professional manner following his mid-season appointment. This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the required standards with much still to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam all the best for the future.”
Who is the new Chelsea coach?
Callum McFarlane, who took charge of the club for two games before Rosenior was appointed, has been given the interim reins as the club search for a new head coach.
The club have also vowed to take time for self-reflection as they prepare to hire a ninth different manager since 2022.
