John Wakabiu was overjoyed after finally getting his freedom after several years in prison for a crime he insists he did not commit.
Wakabiu was warmly received by his family members, who had missed him for two decades while he was in prison.
They hugged him tight, showing love, support, and gratitude to God for bringing him home safely.
“Prison is not a good place. If anyone is thinking of sending someone to prison, throw those thoughts away immediately. It is not a good place. Being in prison is like being in another country. There is no freedom. You cannot put anything in your pockets. Once you are given that uniform, if you are found with other clothes, you are beaten badly,” Wakabiu said, smiling calmly that his prison days were over.

Wakabiu tells how he was imprisoned
Wakabiu urged citizens not to rush to send others to prison, regardless of disagreement, citing his painful experience.
He urged people to settle disputes amicably at home instead of taking them to court, warning that it could lead to lifelong regrets.
“There are many young people in prison. Most of them are there for serious crimes, but some are imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. I was accused and sentenced to prison for something I did not do. Some people lie to you to extort money from you.
I was at the hotel when a little girl walked in one morning. He used to take pancakes, and his mother would pay for the evening. I was taking care of my things, packing pancakes, when Mama Wambui came to buy milk,” Wakabiu said.
Wakabiu was accused of having an affair with a girl
A few days later, Wakabiu said rumors began to circulate that he had an affair with the little girl, claims he vehemently denied.
He claimed he called all parties involved to discuss the matter, except Mama Wambui, who reportedly did not attend the meeting.
Despite the painful history, his family expressed great joy to bring him home after so many years. They shared plans to spend quality time together and make up for lost years.
