Masked Politics? People’s Renaissance Movement Sparks Buzz as New Party Hides Faces After Registration

Members of the People’s Renaissance Movement (PM) staged a dramatic scene recently, appearing in masks shortly after securing their official registration certificate from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP). During a briefing held just before their scheduled unveiling, the group explained that they chose to hide their identities as a symbolic gesture, promising a grand reveal during their official party launch.

“A movement will be born, a movement will be delivered, one that will liberate this country from the circles of dictatorship. These faces are hidden today because tomorrow we must unveil the real faces of Kenyans very early in the morning,” one member said.

The group views this anonymity as a temporary measure before they transition into active public leadership. They intend for the eventual removal of the masks to signal a new era where ordinary citizens take direct control of the country’s governance.

“We shall remove these masks, and we will tell you that Kenyans can actually take leadership in their hand.”

The Registrar of Political Parties formalized the party’s status in a letter dated April 17, 2026. This document, referenced as RPP/PROV/PM Vol IV (43), confirms that the movement successfully navigated the legal hurdles set out in Section 7 (4) of the Political Parties Act.

“Pursuant to section 7 (4) of the Political Parties Act, Cap. 7D, the Registrar shall, within thirty days of an application, issue a certificate of full registration to a provisionally registered political party which has fulfilled the conditions of full registration,” the letter reads.

The Registrar’s office also directed the party to finalize its transition by complying with Regulation 4(2) of the Political Parties (Registration) Regulations, 2019. This step requires the PM to formally surrender its provisional certificate along with a signed forwarding letter to the authorities.

“In view of the foregoing, this Office hereby invites at least three PM founding members to the certificate issuance meeting to be held on 22nd April, 2026 at 9.00 a.m. at ORPP 4th Floor Boardroom,” the letter adds.

The movement first secured its provisional registration on January 15, 2026. Since then, the Registrar’s office has guided the party’s founders and interim officials through the rigorous legal and technical requirements necessary for full status, including recruiting a national membership base, establishing functional regional offices, and forming the governing bodies required by law.

The party’s visual identity features a hummingbird in flight, rendered in a palette of red, blue, and white, paired with the straightforward slogan: “The change we need.”

According to its official website, the PM envisions a Kenya rooted in equal opportunity and transparent governance, where national resources benefit the entire population. The party’s core mission focuses on dismantling exclusive power structures to build a system that serves every citizen rather than a privileged few.

Aspiring members of the People’s Renaissance Movement must complete their registration through the Integrated Political Party Management System (IPPMS). This official platform serves as the central hub for verifying and managing political party memberships across the country. The process lives entirely online, requiring applicants to navigate a series of digital steps before the party grants them full access to its internal system.

To begin, users should visit the official IPPMS portal at https://ippms.ke/ to either set up a new account or sign in to an existing one. Once inside the portal, applicants must provide accurate personal details on the membership registration form. After a thorough review and subsequent approval of the application, the system issues a unique IPPMS ID to confirm the user’s official status.

With this ID in hand, members must return to the platform and input their National ID number to finalize their professional profile. Current users can simply log in with their National ID to get started. For those who prefer a mobile-first approach, the movement also offers a USSD option; simply dial *509#, select the People’s Renaissance Movement from the menu, and follow the prompts to join the fold.

The People’s Renaissance Movement offers several membership tiers, allowing supporters to choose a level of commitment that aligns with their personal investment in the party’s future. These categories range from accessible entry-level options to high-stakes premium tiers, each carrying distinct financial contributions and renewal cycles.

Prospective members can join at the Ordinary level for a modest, one-off fee of KSh 20. For those looking for a more permanent stake in the movement, the standard life membership costs KSh 20,000, with a renewal requirement every five years.

The party has also established a series of prestige tiers for significant donors, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold Life Memberships, which cost KSh 50,000, KSh 100,000, and KSh 1,000,000, respectively.

At the highest echelon of the party’s structure sit the Diamond and Platinum tiers. A Diamond Life Membership requires a KSh 5,000,000 contribution, while the elite Platinum level commands a fee of KSh 20,000,000. Like the other premium tiers, these memberships remain subject to a five-year renewal period.

Aspiring leaders within the organization should note the party’s strict internal requirements regarding hierarchy. According to the official guidelines, any individual who wishes to run for office or serve as a party official must hold, at minimum, a fully paid-up life membership.
