A cloud of sadness and shock has descended on a village in Ikolomani, Kakamega county, after a 43-year-old man allegedly killed his three-year-old daughter and left two others seriously injured.

The man, identified as Nathan Shimenga, reportedly attacked the children following a family dispute with his estranged wife.
He reportedly used a machete to kill his daughter and seriously injure his four-year-old twins, who are now in critical condition.
What happened between the Kakamega man and his wife?
Speaking to the media following the incident, Nathan’s family revealed that he had a bad behavior and tortured his wife several times, until he could no longer tolerate the situation and returned to his parents’ home.

“He never respected his wife since they got married. He beat her every night, and that’s why he ran away. He had left twice and returned, but this time he refused to come back,” said Halima, one of the relatives.
It is said that the suspect gave his estranged wife a ride home, but she never arrived.
Nathan’s sister, Emily Atema, who was also injured, narrated what happened. He remembered the 43-year-old man asking for his father-in-law’s phone number, which he gave.
“He threw my phone down after taking the number, grabbed both of my hands, and started attacking me with a sword. I asked him what I did wrong, but he told me to shut up before hitting me,” said Atema.
His brother, Wennington Lwamba, shared that after attacking their sister, the father of three killed their pig and then went to sleep.
The next morning, he led his children to the river bank, where he allegedly committed the brutal act.
“I am in great pain. When we found him by the river, he became violent and did that bad act in front of our eyes,” he said.
His mother, Jane Kupesi, expressed her grief and sorrow, noting that she once said her son would one day kill someone.
He asked the police to speed up the investigation so that he faces justice for what he did to his family.
“He once hit me with a stone. Please help us so that he does not return home,” he said.
The four-year-old twins are fighting for their lives at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital, while their father is being held and is currently in police custody.
The police handling the case have started an investigation to fully determine the circumstances of the incident and ensure that justice is available to the family.
