Joseph Kirimi from Meru has won Sh10 million through the free-to-play Goal Rush promotion by betting firm SportPesa.
Kirimi, who operates a hotel in Lare, Meru County, emerged as the latest millionaire after correctly predicting outcomes in three pre-selected matches played on April 12, 2026.
The free-to-play Goal Rush game requires participants to predict the first team to score and the exact time the first goal will be scored in the 3 pre-selected games, and that is what Kirimi did to change his fortunes.
Speaking during a colourful unveiling ceremony in Meru, the latest millionaire said the win came as a surprise, having initially believed he had missed out.
“I have been playing Goal Rush for over a year and on that day I was at work with friends. At first, I was confused because I thought I had only gotten two of the three predictions right, only to be corrected by my friends. Right after, we just broke into celebrations at the hotel. I was so happy,” Kirimi revealed.
Kirimi described the prize as the biggest amount he has ever won on SportPesa and said it would significantly transform his life and that of his family.
“The first thing I will do is thank God. Thereafter, I plan to buy land in Lare Town and put up rental units,” he said.
Kirimi became the sixth winner to walk away with 10 million from the free-to-play Goal Rush game.
Previous winners include Stephen Visendi, the inaugural winner in May 2024; Derrick Kasyoka, a Kenyatta University graduate who won in August 2024; Sanchez Musyoki, who won in May 2025; Dickson Mugambi in September 2025; and Zaberio Mikirima, a Meru-based sales representative who won in October 2025.
