Simon Bashir Kawuki aka MC Kapale, known for his humor and outspoken personality, recently quietly returned to Kampala after many years abroad.
Speaking candidly in a recent YouTube interview, he described his time in America as far from the dream he envisioned.
Kapale explained that shortly after arriving in the United States, he began to struggle with everyday life. One of the first challenges was communication.

His situation worsened when he failed to find stable employment due to the lack of proper documents.
Without a job, finding accommodation also proved difficult, pushing him into despair.
It was during this period, he said, that he married an older white woman, hoping it would provide him with stability, including housing and a path to legal status.
However, Kapale described the plan as very disturbing and far from what he expected.
Instead of the support she had hoped for, she says she found herself in a difficult family situation, doing housework and feeling pressured into the relationship.

He admitted that the incident affected his mental health, revealing that he often struggled in silence.
According to him, many Africans living abroad face similar emotional problems but suffer in silence due to stigma and unfulfilled expectations.
Kapale also shared the personal cost of his trip, saying he had sold property at home to finance his move to America, a decision he now deeply regrets.
“I can’t go back to the United States to work. Let me live here,” he said, expressing his desire to rebuild his life in Uganda.
Beyond the practical challenges, Kapale reflected on what he described as the importance of spiritual preparation before moving abroad.
He claimed that he felt “dirty” before leaving Uganda, suggesting that unresolved personal or spiritual issues can affect one’s experience abroad.
