Raymond Omollo Ajizozoa, Condemns Attack Against Osotsi and Denies Involvement: “I Don’t Even Know Them”

He further distanced himself from the allegations linking him to the incident, warning that the government will take strict action against the criminal gangs that caused political violence.

Omollo’s remarks come following the incident of violence in the county Poisonous where Osotsi was attacked by a group of armed men in a city restaurant, causing national outrage.

What did Raymond Omollo say about the attack on Osotsi?

Speaking in Lodwar, Turkana County, Omollo said the state would not tolerate what he described as increasing lawlessness across the country.

Under fire, the Secretary General stressed that those responsible for financing or carrying out such attacks will face the full force of the law.

“I don’t know who is not involved or who is involved and has not been arrested, but the important thing is that first of all, when we talk about hooligans or hooligans, it is a conversation or something that has offended us. It is not something that started today or yesterday,” he said.

The Secretary General of Internal Affairs emphasized that effective measures are in progress, assuring that law enforcement agencies were actively pursuing those involved in the attack on Osotsi, who is currently recovering from his injuries.

“It is a sad thing that happened to Mr. Osotsi. In fact, there are steps being taken. And, of course, I would like to wish him well,” the Secretary General said.

The Secretary General emphasized that the problem of organized gangs and politically motivated violence is not new to Kenyan security circles.

He noted that the government has been involved in the matter for many years, including discussions in the parliament about dealing with illegal weapons and criminal networks.

“It’s not even this year’s topic alone. But in fact, we’ve had discussions. And it’s something that, as a ministry, my minister has talked about. Not only in public, he’s even made presentations in front of parliament about the need for us to be able, first of all, to deal with the issues of criminal guns,” he added.

He linked the Kisumu incident to the wider national fabric, citing similar concerns in Turkana and other areas, stressing that it should not be allowed to define Kenya’s public life or democratic participation.

At the same time, Omollo called for accountability in the entire justice system, urging the police and judicial officers to act impartially and ensure cases are concluded based on evidence.

“Any aspect of the crime must be dealt with in an expected manner … it is not enough for the police to arrest him. Moreover, those in court must also be able to … take action,” he noted.

His statement comes amid intense pressure from opposition leaders, who have strongly criticized the government over the attack.

Speaking at the Nairobi hospital where Osotsi is recovering, the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka He accused Omollo of planning the violence and asked him to resign immediately.

Kalonzo said that the failure to quickly arrest the perpetrators indicated the possibility of involvement within government agencies.
