Did those convicted for the murder of George Muchai receive the death penalty?

Although the convicts pleaded for mercy and had no previous criminal records, Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina noted that the seriousness of their crimes outweighed the reasons for a reduced sentence, despite the fact that they were first-time offenders.

He emphasized that the victims were kidnapped and robbed that night.

“I have reviewed and considered the arguments presented in relation to each defendant. A request for mercy has been submitted to each one, and each one has shown remorse. Although they have shown remorse, the crimes were very serious, and the victims also deserve justice. The crimes were committed with great violence, with guns stolen from a police officer… The defendants are sentenced to death for the first, second, and third offenses,” Onyina decided.
