The accident happened on Friday night, April 3, after three of Likana Sacco hit the truck, killing all those inside.

The car was heading to Nakuru from Nairobi, with many passengers traveling home to celebrate the Easter holiday with their families.
A woman who lost her husband in the incident emotionally recounted her last conversation with him before his sudden death.

“He told me he was about to reach Naivasha. Later I sent him a WhatsApp message, but he did not respond, there was only a gray tick. By 5:55 at night, there was still no contact. I knew that if he had said he was close to Naivasha, then he would have already arrived. When I called him, he did not answer. When I sent a message again, he did not respond,” said Nancy Barongo, whose husband Joseph Simiyu was a nurse.
Lucy’s sister Wanjiru Wabu speaks
In Dedan Wabu’s house, the family held a picture of Dorcas Wambui, a precious memory of their first daughter.
The mother of two died while traveling home to celebrate the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ with her family.
“She was our pillar. She held us all together because she was our first child. We looked at her as our mother,” said Lucy Wanjiru Wabu, her late sister.
Mary Wacera is survived by six children
The pain was greater for Mama Susana Njeri, who lost her daughter Marcy Wacera in the accident that caused a great disaster.
The 39-year-old mother of six left her family in shock, with a heartbroken relative revealing they had plans together before the heartbreaking news.
“We had planned some things, and I was monitoring the progress. He told me when he arrived, we will meet and discuss more, and that was our last conversation. I tried to call him at 4 pm, but his phone was not available. We started to worry a lot,” said Grace Waweru.
Member of Parliament’s message to NTSA
As news of the accident spread, the community came together to support the affected families, offering support and prayers. However, nothing could ease their pain.
Member of Parliament Luck Irene Njoki, who visited the affected families, called on the National Transport and Road Safety Authority (NTSA) to take strict action against reckless road users and drivers.
“It is their responsibility to ensure road safety. They should not only be seen after an accident occurs. This should be their daily job to ensure road safety,” he said.

The truck driver’s family is also speaking out
In another development, the family of the driver who hit the trailer also spoke in grief after receiving the news of their loved one’s death.
The Nakuru family defended him, saying he was neither a drinker nor a night owl, adding that he had extensive experience in the transport sector.
They also explained how they found out about the accident through social media while they were looking for more information about the incident.
