The brave woman was speaking to mourners when she criticized her brother-in-law, saying she had completely abandoned her cultural responsibilities by failing to pay the dowry and raise the children born to the deceased.
In the video of TikTok that spread, the angry woman asked her brother-in-law how he could demand dowry for his children while he did not care to pay his wife’s dowry.
Confused by the woman’s words, a man, believed to be the brother-in-law, was heard shouting from the audience saying, “But aren’t your children at school?”
The woman responded immediately, saying they are in school because her family intervened and helped them study.
“We will not hide it. We are the ones who educated the children. One of them is in the National Youth Service after we donated money. You did not do that,” he said.
“You have never brought a single chicken into this family as a dowry. Should I talk or not?” he said as he turned to the mourners who encouraged him to continue speaking.
