Naiyanoi thanked the residents of Emurua for helping her when her husband died. He admitted that he had not answered the many calls and messages he received because he did not have the strength to do so.
“I would like to thank you for standing by me when I lost Johana until we buried her, until today you have continued to help me. I had said I would not cry. I want to tell you thank you. I know you have been calling me and sending me messages, and I have not answered all of them, not because I don’t want to, but because I did not have the strength. I am sorry, I know you have also lost a leader; I have lost the father of my children.”
She admitted that she is still mourning her late husband and asked if people were doubting her marriage with Ng’eno.
“I know you will support me, and we are together. I am still mourning. I was not strong, I will not lie, but I promise one day I will come to ask you for something. I know you will not deny me even if it is not a seat here in Emurua Dikirr. I know you will stand with me. Those who call me ‘chemuswende,’ didn’t you all come to my wedding? Did you not see that I was married according to Kipsigis tradition and custom? Now Johana has left and left me, do you also want to leave me? I am still here here, and this is my home. We will stand together until the last minute.”
Naiyanoi gave reasons for withdrawing from the parliamentary race. She admitted that she couldn’t handle the position because she was still in mourning.
“Thank you for wanting to give me that seat, but I couldn’t really afford it because this death was sudden, and it affected me a lot, and I couldn’t handle it, so I’m sorry for letting you down. But one day I’ll stand here, and I know you’ll support me.”
He thanked the women who visited him at his home and gave information about the victims of the by-elections.
“To the women who came to visit me and cry with me, thank you for coming to my house and giving me company. Don’t stop doing that. We have just seen our colleagues in the hospital, they are still recovering and they have asked me to give them their greetings.”
