A former minister Raphael Tuju he claims that his personal assistant has been arrested and detained.

He revealed that Steve Mwanga, who is also his driver, was arrested on Wednesday, April 1, and taken to the Lang’ata Police Station.

“Steve Mwanga, my professional assistant, has been arrested. He has been placed in a cell at the Lang’ata Police Station,” said Tuju.

How did Tuju know about the arrest of Steve Mwanga?

The politician revealed that the incident happened while he was sleeping, continuing to recover after several days in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Karen Hospital, where he was admitted following alleged harassment by the police.

“From around five in the evening I was informed when they surrounded him. I didn’t know until around half past three in the night because my people were guarding me because I was sleeping at home recovering. They wanted me to continue resting. I am under treatment with strong pain relievers that make me sleep a lot. But now I am awake,” he told TUKO.co.ke.

When his lawyers visited him at the station, the police allegedly denied him bail.

Furthermore, the former minister, who is still recovering, expressed concern about the increased police presence in Dari Business Park, claiming the continuation of threats despite his condition.

“The police have increased their presence in Dari Business Park. Several Land Cruisers are now hidden inside the parking lot of Dari Business. Threats continue. I am at home still recovering. I am not intimidated by threats,” said Tuju.

What caused Raphael Tuju’s illness?

Meanwhile, the former secretary general of Jubilee suffered health problems during his arrest at the Karen Police Station.

Tuju had organized a press conference to discuss publicly where he was at the time of his disappearance which caused concern throughout the country.

According to him, he was being followed by a Land Cruiser without license plates, which worried him due to the credit crisis he was facing.

After realizing that he was being followed frequently, he left his car at Miotoni Road and sought refuge in Kiambu County with his driver.

However, when he appeared again, the director of DCI Amin Mohamed claimed that Tuju was at his house the whole time, saying intelligence reports showed that his phone was switched off inside his residence.

When he went to give a statement, he was pushed into a police car, which hurt his back.

Opposition leaders condemned the actions, saying he did not deserve to be harassed, especially when he is still recovering from a serious road accident.
