In a letter addressed to the president, the family asked for his help, claiming that the allegedly altered will had caused them years of suffering.
Which properties of Gachagua are disputed?
The family accused the brother of the deceased, who was the vice president Rigathi Gachaguausing his political influence to deceive them and rob them of their inheritance.
However, speaking after the Matawi Sunday service at AIC Kongoni, Naivasha, Ruto vowed that all property stolen from the late governor’s family must be returned.

“The hotel owned by orphans and widows must be returned. There is no avoiding that. The hotel in Nairobi, the house in Kilifi, and other properties taken from the family left by the deceased must be returned,” Ruto stressed.
The disputed properties include Olive Gardens and Vipingo Beach Resort.
Why is Ruto defending the family of the late Gachagua?
At the same time, Gachagua previously accused the president of trying to take political revenge by targeting the family and using the inheritance issue that was resolved by the court.
Gachagua strongly warned Ruto to avoid interfering in his family’s affairs and asked him to attend to his own affairs.
However, Ruto said he has not wavered in his efforts to seek justice for the family.

“There is no problem if you continue to insult me, but because I am a man, I will defend myself. Widows and orphans cannot defend themselves, and that is why we will defend them. The Bible says that when widows and orphans cry for help, the Lord listens to them. So don’t worry; we will deal with these people,” he said.
The fight over the properties started during the process of ousting Gachagua, where a member of parliament accused the DCP leader of illegally owning the hotels.
Amidst intense tension with opposition leaders earlier this month, Ruto made serious allegations against his former deputy, including extortion, assault, and murder of young women.
