Kakamega – Leaders from Western Kenya have united and supported the leadership of the Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnsonciting his record of development and the historic partnership agreement with President William Ruto which added KSh 80 billion more to Nairobi.

Speaking during the funeral of Lucy Kubasu, Sakaja’s aunt, held in Bushiangala, Ikolomani, Kakamega County, the leaders led by Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali, Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera, Shinyalu Member of Parliament Fred Ikana, Kakamega Female Representative Elsie Muhanda, and nominated ODM Senator Catherine Mumma encouraged Kenyans to prioritize development politics.

They named Sakaja as a candidate for a broad government, associating his political position with the collaboration between Ruto and Hayati Raila Odingawho said it has strengthened leadership and integrated development.

The Ikolomani Member of Parliament asked leaders and citizens to focus on performance.

“We should put tribal politics aside and look at what the leaders have achieved. Governor Sakaja’s performance record is there,” Shinali said on Saturday, March 28.

Nabwera, while insisting that Sakaja should join ODM and that the Mulembe community will not allow the seat to slip, urged the region to unite behind the governor.

“The nation of Mulembe should unite and support Sakaja. For us, we will not give the governor’s seat to anyone but Sakaja,” Nabwera said.

Senator Mumma praised Sakaja’s leadership, especially his role in implementing the Law on Urban Areas and Cities.

Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ng’ondi also praised Sakaja’s leadership style, noting the strengthening of cooperation within the county government.

He said that during his tenure it has been easy to lead the parliament under Sakaja who has been able to bring together leaders in political divisions.

The Speaker explained that despite being elected under UDASakaja has worked effectively with ODM MCAs, to maintain stability and avoid the chaos that previously existed in parliament.

Secretary General of the UDA, Omar Hassan assured the governor of continued support, whether under the UDA or through the wider government.

Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali and Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula encouraged Sakaja to maintain close ties with the area and continue to support community initiatives.

In his remarks, Governor Sakaja paid tribute to his late aunt, describing her as the pillar of the family.

The MPs and the County Assembly who attended got involved in the politics of Kakamega County, vowing to support Elsie Muhanda in her gubernatorial bid against Ferdinand Barasa.

“He was always there when we needed him as a family. He was always there for the people, and we will return the favor as he was,” Sakaja said.

The leaders emphasized that continuing to support Sakaja will ensure sustainable development and unity in Nairobi.
