The President began his visit on Friday, March 27, with various local leaders. The first stop was Juja, where the leaders addressed the gathered residents.
When Ichung’wah got a chance to speak, he started attacking the opposition led by the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachaguaencouraging residents to support Ruto.
However, his statements were always contradicted, with the audience shouting and chasing him.

Ichung’wah’s attempt to force his speech did not dampen the audience’s will to reject him.
He then changed direction and talked about the development projects that Ruto was implementing in the area, but that did not help reduce the negative feelings from the public who were listening to him.
Perhaps in an effort to free himself, Ichung’wah said he had expected such a reception, noting that Kiambu’s politics have been harsh and that what he encountered was not unique.
“Mr. President, I told you when we were in Kikuyu, that the politics of Kiambu will cool down. We will talk, because politics is a competition. We will talk and deal like we deal with the other rogues (opposition),” said Ichung’wah before ending his speech.
All the while, the president watched without saying a word or intervening to calm the crowd.
The event gave rise to political interpretations, with some people analyzing the political message sent by the residents of Juja.
Some concluded that the opposition was an indirect message to the president, whose victory in the 2022 election was heavily influenced by Kiambu County and the Mt Kenya region in general.
