Edwin Sifuna, Grandfather Owino Evade Heavy Police Protection and Penetrate to Ufungana House

The Linda Mwananchi movement led by the Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Member of Parliament for Embakasi East Babu Owino, has managed to enter Ufungano House despite strict police protection outside the premises.

Heavily armed police officers were deployed to guard the historic venue on the morning of Friday, March 27, before supporters and leaders of the youth-led movement arrived.

There were fears that Edwin Sifuna and his team would be prevented from entering the venue, but they managed to enter and join hundreds of supporters.

Other leaders currently present in Ufungano House include the Governor of Siaya James OrengoVihiga Senator Godfrery Osotsi and several ODM MPs who oppose the leadership of Oburu Oginga and the inclusive government plan.

The ODM faction led by Oburu Oginga is currently at Jamhuri Grounds for the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC).

Other leaders attending the Jamhuri Grounds event include the national chairman of ODM and the Governor of Homa Bay Gladys Wangatogether with Governors Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir (deputy leader of the party) and Simba Arati (also deputy leader of the party).

The team led by Edwin Sifuna is wearing blue, while the team led by Oburu Oginga is flying orange.

“I went to bring Baba from India and found out that some crooks had gathered to plan how to replace Baba. When I arrived, I was told that Oburtu is the leader of the party. Did you check him?” asked Sifuna.

He announced that the Jamhuri Grounds NDC is fake and illegitimate, saying that the people are with Linda Mwananchi.

Governor James Orengo said he is ready to die for Kenya and will not allow the police to break the right of Kenyans to assemble and express their dissatisfaction with the leadership of the President William Ruto.

“If there is a day we are ready to die for this country, it is today. And I want to tell the police, don’t try to do anything stupid here, we are ready to die for Kenya,” said Orengo.

Part of the ODM officials who support Linda Mwananchi’s team were prevented by the police from entering the hall.

Edwin Sifuna criticized the police for trying to disrupt their meeting, promising to ensure that the movement continues and achieves its goal of making William Ruto a one-term president.

“I want to ask the young people to go and bring out the party chairmen who have been prevented from entering the hall. Help them enter as we did. We are not afraid,” said the Nairobi senator.

According to Senator Godfrery Osotsi, who is also the deputy leader of the ODM party, Linda Mwananchi’s group had 15 county chairmen in attendance.

“The chairman of the council of chairmen is here with us, and we have a total of 15 chairmen. The other team only has 12 chairmen. Now, which is the legitimate ODM?” asked Osotsi.
