What started as a week of mourning for one family has turned into an unbearable tragedy, after the mother lost her life in a road accident just a few days after the death of her husband.
The accident happened along the Machakos-Kyumvi road at Kimangu station, where a private car carrying the woman and her sons was involved in an accident with a passenger car with 14 seats.
How did Grace’s mother die?
Grace, the daughter of the deceased, told TUKO.co.ke that the car the family was traveling in lost direction and caused the fatal accident.
In an attempt to save herself, the woman reportedly tried to jump out of the car as it lost control.
He suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. Two men, confirmed to be his sons, were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
More tragically, the car was being driven by one of his sons at the time of the accident, adding to the pain of the already heartbroken family.
When did Grace’s father die?
The tragedy happened just a few days after the family prepared to bury the woman’s husband, who died the previous week.
What should have been a time to unite in grief and memory has now turned into a double whammy, as relatives and friends struggle to come to terms with the double loss.
“How can you recover from this? My father died last Wednesday, the funeral was supposed to take place on Friday, and now my mother is gone. God, this is too much. I am completely broken,” Grace lamented, showing the depth of her pain.
Neighbors and members of the local community have described the incident as very sad, citing the bad timing of the accident.
Kenyans stand with Grace’s family
Many have expressed their surprise at how quickly the family’s situation changed from planning to say goodbye to one parent to mourning both within a few days.
While the injured sons continue to receive treatment, the community has come together to support the family, providing support during this very difficult time in their lives.
Authorities have urged drivers to be careful on the roads, while investigations into the exact cause of the accident continue.
For this grieving family, however, the main thing is dealing with a loss so sudden and heavy that words cannot fully describe it.
