Nairobi, Kenya: Brian Okello, a barobaro who was severely attacked by boda-boda drivers for trying to save a woman who was being beaten, has narrated what happened.

In the video of Instagrama group of boda riders is seen surrounding the woman and attacking her.

At one point, they undressed her in grief and continued to beat her. The sad scene continued for several minutes until Okello arrived.

In the video, he is seen running towards the scene of the violence, intending to save the woman.

When Okello arrived at the scene, he tried to confront the assailant directly; however, other riders in the area attacked him, forcing him to pull over to avoid serious injury or death.

Recognizing his bravery, a business woman in the city gifted Okello with a brand new pair of shoes.

Speaking in an interview later, Okello explained that he did not know he was being recorded nor that the incident would go viral.

What did Okello say about the woman?

“The woman asked the boda driver to go home so that she could pay him because her phone did not have enough charge,” said Okello.

“Some people ask why I helped that woman, and all I can say is that I helped her because it could have been anyone in the community—even my sister. She could have helped me or anyone else in the community,” he added.

The incident comes after another attack on a woman, and sadly left her recovering from an acid attack allegedly orchestrated by her boyfriend.

Many people, including politicians and the church, have come forward to strongly condemn the painful attack against the woman identified as Mary Claire.
