Tuju is currently admitted at The Karen Hospital as he is about to be arrested after the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) accused him of carrying out his kidnapping on March 21.
At the center of the saga is his main property in Karen, which the East African Development Bank (EADB) has been pursuing to recover the loan that Tuju took in 2015.

In the saga, whispers emerged that Tuju’s plight was sanctioned by the government, with some people accusing the President William Ruto.
Oburu was also exposed for not using his proximity to the president to help his fellow Luos.
However, in a bid to defuse the situation, Oburu revealed that he tried to seek an audience with President William Ruto on the matter.
In the leaked call, the ODM boss and Siaya senator explained that he sought Ruto’s intervention in private with the aim of helping Tuju.
But the president replied that Tuju was fighting for the return of his title deed after the property was auctioned in February 2025.
According to Oburu, the president sent him a document showing the change in ownership of the land after it was auctioned publicly.
“I have not remained silent, this issue found us in Mombasa, and Otiende Amollo called me to tell me that the police officers have surrounded Tuju’s property, so I should try to talk to the president so that he intervenes. I picked up my phone and called the president, I asked him what is going on with Tuju’s condition. After a while, he sent me a message, a copy of the photo of the person last February had a patent. It was auctioned in public in February 2025,” Oburu said.

Oburu further revealed that Tuju sought Ruto’s help, but may not have been happy with the remedy the president suggested.
According to Oburu, Ruto advised Tuju to pay the new owner of the property, which he acquired through auction, if he wanted the land back.
That is the real problem, Oburu explained.
“He (Ruto) told me the story is long and even Tuju had gone to see him. They talked to the person who bought it, but Tuju insists that he be given back the farm. Ruto said it can be returned if Tuju pays the money that the buyer got during the auction. After leaving the president, Tuju seems to not want to pay the money; he just wants the title to be named after him. That is the person who has been struggling with Tuju,” he said.
