The concern at the school located in Likuyani sub-county has left parents and staff in fear as the affected students are too weak to continue normal school activities.
According to the head of the school, the staff have kept the affected students under observation while waiting for confirmation from the Ministry of Health about the samples sent to government laboratories.
What did the principal of Nangili Girls school say about the mysterious disease?
He added that more than 20 students who were initially sent home due to the unknown illness were later returned to school and are now under observation.
“Yes, we have more than 200 students affected by the disease, and we have sent their samples to the Government laboratories to find out what the problem is, we have also isolated the victims and we are monitoring them,” Juma said.
However, the parents of the affected students are asking the school to allow them to take their children so that they can seek further treatment at nearby health facilities.
Did the parents of Nangili Girls want their children sick?
They claimed that some of the students experienced chest pain and chronic cough, causing them to become weak and unable to walk.
“They called us last week, when we arrived to pick them up, we found them unable to walk, while others were crying because of chest pain,” another parent said.
The parents are now asking the government to intervene and restore normalcy in the school.
They claimed that the principal was trying to hide the issue, but the students continue to suffer from an illness that they do not understand.

According to the parents, urgent government action is needed because the disease can spread to other students and school staff.
“The government should act quickly to prevent the infection; it may even affect staff and other students in the school,” they urged.
Kakamega Eimu Officials Talk About Nangili Girls Issue
The situation at Nangili Girls School has been confirmed by the Director of Education in Kakamega County Stephen Abere, who said the county is collaborating with the Ministry of Education to deal with the outbreak.
Abere said that some students complained of chest pain, chronic cough and weak legs, making them unable to walk.
He asked the parents to be calm while waiting for the laboratory results to confirm the name and source of the disease.
“We have information that more than 200 students were attacked by an unknown disease; their samples have been sent for examination. As a ministry, we have instructed schools to isolate those affected from others,” Abere said.
