The incident happened while Gachagua, the leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), intensified his political campaigns in the Mt Kenya area, wanting to strengthen support.
What did Gachagua say during the Githunguri meeting?
Gachagua has been in the process of extinguishing the popularity of the President William Rutowho has repeatedly accused him of overseeing what he describes as government capture and rampant corruption.
Addressing residents during a rally in Githunguri constituency, the former deputy president maintained his defiant tone, telling supporters that his campaign was about taking the country back from bad leadership.
He emphasized that he will not relent in what he mentioned as the mission to inform and motivate the people towards the 2027 General Election.
“We will not tire of telling the truth while planning strategies to liberate our country from these rude leaders,” Gachagua announced.
With a political message, the meeting took a new turn when a Rastafari member sought a chance to address the meeting.
The man, probably in his middle age, was standing in the crowd before he caught Gachagua’s attention.
Instead of ignoring him, the former vice president instructed his team to let the man speak.
“Let that rasta say something and let us hear what he says,” Gachagua said.
Once handed the microphone, the man began by addressing Gachagua in a tone that drew the crowd of neutrals, referring to him as “the president.”
He then began to narrate his troubles personally, recounting the hardships he faced following a road accident that left him unable to work.

According to his short but poignant appeal, the injury affected his arm, making it impossible for him to continue earning a living, even by doing menial jobs.
He added that his condition worsened over time, making him worry about taking care of his wife and children.
“Shut up a bit. This is not an honorable man. This is our president. President, there was a day when I had a problem with a car accident. I have never been there, even as a laborer. The house is for redemption. You will be able to help me. I am with my wife and children,” he asked.
In swift action, Gachagua publicly offered to help the man, announcing that he would give him KSh 100,000.
The announcement was met with cheers and boos from supporters, who seemed moved by the man’s story and the quick response from the former DP.
