Nairobi: Former Minister Raphael Tuju Reported Missing, His Car Found Abandoned

Former Cabinet Secretary and former secretary general of Jubilee Raphael Tuju has been missing since Saturday afternoon, March 21.

What happened before the disappearance of Raphael Tuju?

On Sunday morning, March 22, the officer in charge of the Karen station informed the family that her car had been found abandoned on Miotoni Road.

According to the family, the former minister was scheduled to arrive for an interview in Ramogi at 1pm on the same day he disappeared but did not return home.

“This morning while at church, Mano Tuju, Tuju’s son, was called by the OCS of the Karen Police Station informing him that Mr. Tuju’s car was found abandoned on Miotoni Road in Karen.

Phone of Hon. Tuju is off, and has not been seen since Saturday afternoon.

He was scheduled to appear in an interview in Ramogi at about 1pm last night,” said Grado Victor Mabachi, Tuju’s lawyer.

Before his disappearance, Tuju had reported to the police on Saturday that he had been followed on Friday, March 20, by a white Land Cruiser 70-series car without a license plate.

He issued the report under OB 21/21/03/2026.

Following the discovery, a missing person report was filed at the Karen Police Station under OB 17/22/03/2026.

Governor of Siaya James Orengo he confirmed his disappearance, adding that the car keys were left with the car, and asked Kenyans to pray for him.

Who targeted Tuju’s property in Karen?

Meanwhile, in the middle of the case, Tuju claimed that he was angry after failing to sell his two properties worth billions of shillings to a powerful government official.

He claimed that his efforts to repay the loan stalled, making it difficult to settle the case after nearly a decade.

In a letter to the President William Rutothe Luo Council of Elders suggested that EADB may be working to expropriate Tuju’s capital instead of repaying the loan.
