Speaking in Githunguri State on March 21, Gachagua claimed Kindiki did not immediately respond to his concerns about the killings in Meru.
Gachagua revealed that he encouraged Kindiki to deal with the growing tension when he was the Home Affairs minister.
“When I was deputy president and Kindiki was the Minister of Internal Affairs, I called him and told him, ‘I see you visit Baringo, West Pokot, and Baringo every week, fighting livestock thieves. It’s fine, but the residents of Meru are killed every day and their livestock is stolen. He told me, ‘Be patient; I help the president first. He is my boss,'” he said, imitating Kindiki’s voice.

Kindiki, you keep flying in planes with cash packed in sacks to tell us that ‘you are hot.’ You are a fake vice president. Your job is to follow President William Ruto for rice and beans instead,” he demanded.
He said that he would not allow the residents to be killed or their livestock stolen under his rule.
Gachagua, who has been expressing his concern about the protection of Mt Kenya region socially, economically and politically, urged the region not to elect leaders who will exchange their interests after the election.
He urged them to reject the partners of Rutocalling them traitors from the Mt Kenya region.
