Thirty-nine people were lucky to survive the incident at Wilson Airport involving a Safarilink flight on Friday evening, March 20.

The plane, registered 5Y-BXI, was carrying passengers from Poisonous.
Safarilink Aviation Limited confirmed the incident, saying that the plane skidded off the runway upon landing.
According to the airline, the aircraft was operated on a wet charter by ALS Limited.
The agency confirmed that all passengers and crew were evacuated safely following a quick response from the relevant agencies.
Inside the plane were 34 passengers and 5 crew members, with no reported injuries.
“We can confirm that Flight 090, operated by ALS Limited on our behalf from Kisumu to Wilson Airport, was involved in an incident when the flight landed at 20:55. We are relieved to report that all passengers and crew on board are safe. The flight was carrying a total of 34 passengers and 5 crew. All passengers and crew have been accounted for, and no major injuries have been reported at this time. Emergency response teams were immediately activated and the situation was dealt with That quickly. Passengers and crew have since been evacuated safely, and support services are being provided as needed,” Safarilink said.
The airline reiterated its commitment to the safety of its passengers and crew.
It added that an investigation into the incident has been launched to determine the cause of the flight.
“Safety remains our top priority. We have initiated a thorough investigation in collaboration with the relevant aviation authorities to determine the cause of the incident. More information will be provided as more information becomes available. We appreciate the quick response of the airport’s emergency services and thank our passengers and staff for their cooperation,” it said.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) also confirmed the incident, stressing that all passengers on the flight were safe.
KAA noted that the situation was managed quickly, with airport operations continuing without interruption.
“We want to confirm that all passengers and crew are safe, with no reported injuries. The aircraft is still there, and rescue efforts are currently underway. Airport operations at Wilson Airport remain normal. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) remains fully committed to the highest standards of safety at all our airports,” it said.
