In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke in the city of KitaleTrans Nzoia County, on Thursday, March 19, Daniel Wafula, one of the family members, said Ruto should tell them what Malwa owes him so that they can contribute instead of insulting him constantly.
How Eugene Wamalwa suffered under Ruto
Wafula, who is also Eugene Wamalwa’s Personal Assistant, added that Ruto he should withdraw his insulting remarks and apologize to Malwa, his family, and the Baengele clan.
“We, the family members of Eugene Wamalwa, respectfully ask President Ruto to leave our son alone. Eugene Wamalwa has always been a victim of William Ruto’s insults. Even where Eugene has not said anything against Ruto, you will find Ruto insulting him,” Wafula said.
Wafula listed more instances where the Head of State has used words that cannot be published against the former Minister of Defense.
“Eugene Wamalwa has suffered at the hands of Ruto. Even when Ruto was DP, there was a time he wanted to slap Wamalwa. In 2013, Ruto said, ‘I have given Malwa a ditch and given him the job of a minister.’ In 2016, unprovoked, Ruto insulted Wamalwa, calling him ‘Eunice Wamalwa’,” Wafula said, recalling how Ruto insulted their relative by comparing her to a woman in 2021 when Wamalwa publicly announced that Ruto was about to slap him.
Later in 2022, before the August 8 general election, Ruto again participated in the Malwa case, where he accused him of being too talkative.

Wafula ignored Ruto’s claim that Wamalwa has no wife.
“My brother got married in 1997 in a very big wedding presided over by the retired Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale, Anthony Crowley. Therefore, saying that he is hiring a wife is invalid, and he should stop interfering in the personal affairs of other leaders,” Wafula warned.
He called on Western regional leaders and voters to condemn Ruto’s remarks in the strongest possible terms.
“Our leaders and our people should not celebrate when their respected leader is insulted. We need to speak with one voice and demand respect from Ruto,” he appealed.
How Eugene Wamalwa responded to Ruto’s attacks
Eugene responded by criticizing the president’s behavior, saying Ruto struggles with anger management and often loses control when angry.
He insisted that he had never insulted the president to justify such attacks, recalling previous incidents where Ruto allegedly tried to confront him and former Home Affairs Minister Fred Matiang’i.
The DAP-K leader described the president’s remarks as unpresidential, insisting that respect should come before criticism and accused Ruto of letting anger rule his actions from time to time.
