Nairobi – A 22-storey building under construction has collapsed in Westlands.

In a Twitter message on Thursday, March 19, the Kenya Red Cross said the building collapsed along School Road, near Bank of Africa.

How many people were trapped in the collapsed building in Westland?

Officials have confirmed that of the four workers believed to be in the area at the time of the incident, two managed to escape unharmed while two remained trapped under the debris.

Emergency response teams are working tirelessly to find the two missing workers, although their condition is yet to be confirmed.

Did the worker die in the tragedy of the building collapse in Kericho?

In Kericho county, a tragic incident was reported in Kericho in Kaptebeswet, where a building under construction collapsed, killing and leaving several others injured.

Preliminary investigations from the scene indicate that the building may not have been built to the required standards.

Reports indicate the use of weak steel rods and poorly reinforced columns, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the construction.

Witnesses also noted that the building had heavy slabs that were not properly supported, which could have contributed to the collapse.

Governor Erick Mutai confirmed the incident, saying five workers were trapped under the stell and fresh concrete debris.

The governor confirmed that one person died while receiving treatment at the Kericho County Referral Hospital, while four others are in stable and critical condition.

“Through their dedication, 17 of the 22 people inside the building were rescued in time, while five were trapped under the rubble of steel and fresh concrete. Special thanks go to our firefighters, who used special equipment to cut through the metal and rescued the five people who were stuck.

“Sadly, one person died while receiving treatment at the Kericho County Referral Hospital, while four are in stable and critical condition. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Mutai said.

How many people died following the collapse of the Shauri Moyo building?

In another sad news, a family in Nairobi county mourned the sudden death of their loved ones in the tragic incident.

Haron Luchera and Franklin Osundwa, brothers looking for work in Nairobi, were identified as victims of the collapse of the Blue Estate building, Shauri Moyo.

Their relatives identified their bodies in the city morgue after they were recovered from the rubble.
