The Kenya Meteorological Department Announces The Situation For The Next 5 Days, They Warn About Heavy Rain

Nairobi – Some parts of the country will experience rain for the next five days, according to new information from the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).

In a notice, Kenya Met issued a five-day weather forecast from Wednesday, March 18, to Sunday, March 22.

Which areas will get heavy rain this week?

According to the KMD, continuous rains are expected to continue in several places, with heavy rain expected to occur in six places, including the Lake Victoria Basin.

“Rain is expected to continue in several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rain events may occur in some areas of the Eastern Highlands and Western Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Southeastern Lowlands, and the Coast,” Kenya Met said.

Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley

Siaya Counties, PoisonousHomabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot are expected to receive rain in a few places in the morning until March 22.

The meteorologist predicted that afternoon showers and thunderstorms will occur at few places, while overnight showers will occur at several places.

According to KMD, the maximum temperature is expected to be 28°C and the minimum temperature to be 13°C.

Northwest

Turkana and Samburu counties may experience rain in the morning on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22.

In the afternoon and night, there is a chance of rain and thundershowers at few places during the next five days.

The maximum temperature is estimated to be 36°C, and the minimum temperature will be 14°C.

Highlands East of the Rift Valley

The counties in this region are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi.

These counties will receive rain in a few areas in the morning starting Thursday, March 19.

Kenya Met has forecast rain and thundershowers in several areas during the afternoon and night until Sunday, March 22.

For the next five days, Kenya Met predicted that the highest temperature in these counties will be 27°C, while the lowest temperature will be 11°C.

North-East

Kenya Met predicted that Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties will receive rain in a few places in the morning.

In the afternoon, these counties will have scattered showers through Friday, March 20, before sunny weather begins. The maximum temperature is estimated to be 37°C, while the minimum temperature is 17°C.

Southeastern lowlands

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the interior parts of Tana River county will receive rain in a few places from Thursday, March 19, to Sunday, March 22.

The meteorologist predicted that these counties will receive rain at several places in the afternoon and night.

Morning rains are expected in a few places in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the Tana Delta.

There is a chance of rain in a few places in the afternoon. On Wednesday, March 18, and Sunday, March 22, the night will be partly cloudy.

The meteorologist predicted that a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum temperature of 23°C is expected in these counties.

In related news, Nairobi County Chief Customer Service Officer Geoffrey Mosiria urged Nairobi residents to be cautious during the heavy rain that continues to fall.

In a statement, Mosiria urged Nairobi residents to be careful, saying those at work should not be in a hurry to leave the office during the rain.

He also urged PSV drivers to prioritize the safety of passengers, adding that developers who have blocked waterways should repair them as one way to avoid disasters.
