What is the source of The Nairobi Hospital saga?
The doctors who want the government’s involvement in running the hospital are accusing the board of tampering with membership records, pointing to a case where more than 300 people were transported by bus to vote in the general meeting of the AGM, while their fees were paid with a single payment of KSh 5 million.
The hospital’s problems began in November 2019, when an audit revealed procurement flaws and additional costs of KSh1.7 billion in six projects, leading to the dismissal of the entire board.
Things took a turn for the worse in March 2025, when a multi-agency team raided the facility, froze the accounts of nine directors, and seized allegedly destroyed documents.
