Kiambu County Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa recently gave Kenyans a few details about his personal family life at the funeral of his mother, Lucia Wangui Thang’wa.

Lucia passed away on Thursday, March 5, at the age of 93. Following her death, mourners, political leaders, and friends came to the senator’s home to console the family.
He was buried on Monday, March 16, at his family farm in Mitahato in a somber ceremony that combined personal and political honors.

During the event, Senator Karungo publicly introduced his young family, which he has been keeping away from the public.
He introduced his wife, Wambui, and their two daughters, the youngest, Arianna, and the eldest, Tania.
Wambui looked beautiful in a sleek black dress, appropriate for the occasion, while the daughters wore matching purple and gray dresses, drawing attention to their similarities.
Adding humor to the solemn occasion, Karungo joked about his small family, referring to remarks made earlier by the opposition leader, the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
In a recent visit, Gachagua had asked her to follow in the footsteps of her parents and have many children.
“The debate has caused a lot of trouble. He told me to stop the game and add more children. You know that is a very difficult discussion, but I will come to you, Riggy G, so that we can make a decision,” Karungo said and raised laughter from the crowd.
