The elders, descendants of the late Bukusu activist Elijah Masinde, have seen Sifuna’s rising political star and want to strengthen it through their traditions.

Why do Bukusu elders want Edwin Sifuna to visit them?

They appreciated that he emerged as a young leader who needed guidance from the elders.

“Wherever you are, when you hear this invitation, come to the home of the late Elijah Masinde. You will know that you are loved. Kenyans love you, but come and see for yourself… We do not talk too much, we do not deceive anyone.”

The elders said the time for the Luhya nation to unite was now, naming Sifuna as one of the community leaders with great leadership potential.

They advised him against getting caught up in political sentiments that could make him forget his roots.

According to elders, Sifuna is on the right track and can become the country’s president if he plays his political cards wisely.

“We want to live in unity and peace. It seems that Sifuna has come to the forefront. Now we welcome him, and we encourage others to imitate him and work with him. Our house, Mulembe, is important. Earlier we did not agree and remain without unity for the benefit of others. In our community of Bukusu, we have stars who lead because of God, and one of them will lead this nation,” said another elder.

Edwin Sifuna’s rising political profile

Sifuna has recently been enjoying political influence, mainly due to his feelings against the President William Rutotalking about those who disagree with the current administration.

He attracted much attention for his outspoken stance against the pro-government ODM group.

In his public speech, Sifuna made a strong criticism against the Ruto administration, attracting many opponents of the administration.

In the midst of the anti-Ruto wave, Sifuna launched Linda Mwananchi’s campaign, which has gained momentum through meetings and social media.

Why is Edwin Sifuna questioning calls to run for president

At the same time, calls emerged asking him to run for president.

However, considering the actual political situation, Sifuna said he could not listen to the calls without proper strategies and evaluation.

He warned against the hollowness of political noise, insisting that he would not be misled.

In his opinion, elections are won by real numbers, not by the excitement of social networks.

Speaking to the BBC, Sifuna said he would only pursue the presidency once he was assured that the calls and excitement were translated into real votes.

He compared this to others who were persuaded to run for president, only to be abandoned when the clamor and enthusiasm finally died down.
