In a recent change, the service has transferred George Seda from Nairobi to the Western region while appointing Issa Mohamud as the new Nairobi Area Police Commander.

The minor change has seen Mohamud swap positions directly with Seda in a move described as part of a general overhaul aimed at strengthening operations across the country.

Mohamud officially assumed office during a handover meeting held on Wednesday, March 13, where he was introduced to the 12 Nairobi County Police Commanders (OCPD).

The incident marked the beginning of his tenure at the helm of the police force in the capital, an area widely regarded as one of the most sensitive areas in the country.

His return to Nairobi comes at a time when the country is gradually moving towards the next election cycle, a period often associated with serious security concerns.

Mohamud previously served as a sub-county police commander in Kabete before he was promoted to Machakos.

It was from Machakos that the no-nonsense senior officer moved to West Pokot before being appointed Western Regional Police Commander.

During the handover meeting, Mohamud indicated his intention to use a collaborative approach in addressing security challenges in Nairobi.

He said the police will work closely with other stakeholders in Nairobi to ensure security in the capital is maintained.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat described the changes as routine administrative reforms designed to increase efficiency within the service.

Despite the changes, several regional commanders will remain in their current positions for the time being.
