According to Babu, the arrest warrant was issued by the Kakamega chief magistrate. He was asked to appear before the investigators or he will be arrested.
The crux of the matter was a link to a publication issued by the MP against the Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Security, Dr. Raymond Omollo.
Babu, responding to the document, said he would not be afraid of arrest.
“Plans to arrest me of course. I really welcome this nonsense. Why use DCI from Kakamega county?” he asked.
Babu has been accusing the Secretary General of threats and political tactics.
Recently, he escalated his accusations against Dr Omollo, claiming that a senior government official had organized thugs to disrupt Linda Mwananchi’s meetings in Western Kenya.
The meetings on Saturday, February 21, continued but were marred by chaos.
At Amalemba Stadium in Kakamega, tear gas was thrown into the crowd, briefly interrupting the meeting.
In Mbale Town, a suspected thug for hire was killed under disputed circumstances, while videos circulated online showing groups of youths in what appeared to be strategic locations, allegedly to stop Babu, Sifuna, and their team.
It was later revealed that early warnings may have affected the team’s movement before the start of the meeting.
During a television interview, Babu said that he received a text message warning him about a planned attack there Poisonous before the much awaited Kakamega meeting.
The Member of Parliament, who has been leading the movement of Linda Mwananchi together with the Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifunasaid the messages provided preliminary information about the alleged mobilization efforts in Kondele and at the Kisumu International Airport.
Pressed during a direct interview to confirm his allegations against the Home Secretary, Babu presented what he described as evidence, text messages from people he claimed had been motivated to attack him.
In one of the messages read during the interview, the sender allegedly warned him that groups had mobilized to block the airport, that weapons were being collected, and that another team was already on its way to the meeting hall in Kakamega.
The sender also claimed orders had been issued to prevent him from accessing the events so that those motivated could receive payments.
Babu insisted that he could not reveal the identity of the people for security reasons but insisted that the messages were admissible as evidence.
He said that, as a lawyer, he understood the legal threshold required to support the public accusations he made against the Secretary in the Ministry of Homeland Security.
In the second message, which he also read during the interview, the sender allegedly said that they had been hired to attack him and his followers for a fee of KSh 1,000 each.
The man reportedly pleaded with her not to travel to Kisumu Airport and indicated that financial difficulties were the reason for their involvement.
