Agnes Ndeki had different residences for more than two and a half decades after she was found guilty of the crime.
The woman spent 25 years in prison in Embu Women Prison serving her sentence before finally being released.
It was a moment of joy in the prison when one of its inmates finally got freedom after many years.

“I thank the prison for taking care of me in all those years. I was imprisoned for 25 years. Now my time has come to return home. I have changed, and I love my family very much. I feel now that I can live with them in peace without any problems. I cannot repeat that mistake,” Agnes said as the prison officials celebrated with her.
Why did Agnes’s family reject her?
Welfare officer Naomi Ndwiga expressed feelings of happiness and sadness at the same time when Agnes finished her sentence and prepared to return to society.
However, he noted one sad challenge regarding Agnes’ relationship with her family, which was not ready to accept her back.
“Today is a big day for us at Embu Women Prison because one of our clients has been released, and this is her day to return to society. Unfortunately, she is not returning to her home. We are taking her to St Mary’s Village Home for the Aged Women. Her family did not accept her to return because of the crime she committed, but we are still working on the issue and trying to convince them to see the importance of accepting Agnes again,” Naomi said.

Agnes spoke to the prison officers outside the prison area before saying goodbye to them as she prepared to start a new chapter in her life.
The officers were kind and happy for Agnes, but they were also worried that she was not returning to her blood family after being released.

A Murang’a man is released after 18 years in prison
In another case, an ex-convict from Murang’a County was happily welcomed by his loving and supportive wife after he was finally released from prison.
Kinyua had been in prison for 18 years, and his wife couldn’t wait to hug him as soon as he came out of the prison gate.
He wasn’t afraid to show how much he missed her and hoped to spend more time with her, as seen in the video.
Kinyua’s wife took her husband’s luggage and put it aside while hugging him tightly in front of the prison officials and family members who accompanied him.
He pulled her close and gave her a soft kiss while continuing to hug her for a while, while the family members danced and sang happily around them.
