Bishop Kiengei: Another pastor should resign from the JCM church

  • Pastor Teddy Greatness has resigned from the Nyahururu branch of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries (JCM), leaving his position as Assistant Pastor and National Youth Evangelism Coordinator
  • He thanked the head preacher of the branch, Reverend Victor Kuria, for his leadership and formation, and also expressed gratitude for the spiritual guidance he received
  • Teddy explained that his decision was based on personal reflection and a new spiritual direction, stressing that there was no hatred involved despite the rumors that spread on social media

The Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries (JCM) continues to dominate the headlines following a series of debates and conflicts that sparked opposition and what is now seen as a wave of leaders leaving the church.

The saga began after the main preacher of the church, Bishop Muthee Kiengeito invite William Ruto to attend the Sunday service on 22 February, despite the fact that he had previously said he would not allow politicians to speak from his altar.

Kiengei had also openly criticized the president during his funeral Boniface Mwangia peddler who was shot by the police last year, a move that endeared him to the youth, who are largely seen as the main opponents of the government in power.

However, earlier this year Kiengei seemed to change his position, making political statements that asked why many people oppose the President Ruto.

His recent meeting with the president seems to have had an impact within the church.

Who left the JCM church?

People on social media and church members were left wondering after two JCM leaders resigned on Wednesday, March 3.

The first was church administrator James wa Makumbi, who announced his departure from the church headquarters in Ruiru.

A few hours later, Pastor Teddy Greatness announced his resignation from the church branch in Nyahururu.

In his statement, Teddy thanked the main preacher of the branch Reverend Victor Kuria for his training, but explained that after deep reflection, leaving the position was the best decision for his spiritual journey.

“It has been a three-year journey that I will never forget, and I am very grateful. After much prayer, reflection and personal consideration, I have decided that it is time to withdraw from my membership and direct participation as an Assistant Pastor and also leave my position as the National Youth Evangelism Coordinator of JCM Church International,” he said.

He clarified that his departure was not due to any hatred:

“The training, prayers and fellowship I received have contributed a lot to my spiritual growth, and for that I am very grateful. I feel that I am being led to take a different direction in my spiritual journey. This decision was not made because of being offended or ignoring anyone, but due to personal inspiration about the path I believe I should now follow.”

What online Kenyans said about leaders leaving JCM

This sudden resignation has left believers and people wondering what is going on behind the scenes at JCM and whether more departures will follow. Here are some of their comments:

Pst Patrick Gikonyo:

“Grace and peace. Your message shows great trust and spiritual maturity. Decisions like this are never easy, especially after investing years of service, dedication and dedication in the work of the ministry.”

Victor Kuria:

“You are so blessed to quit. Nothing will stop you. Go and be successful. This too shall pass.”

Mary Mummy:

“A very wise decision before it’s too late… Now go and serve God with all your heart… blessings be upon you and your path.”

Eden Mbaire:

“In every church there is a time when many people leave together. This should be seen as just that! No big deal.”

Sue SU:

“That’s why in life it is important to learn the art of separation, certain people and situations will come and then they will leave… this can happen to anyone.”

Trish Njuguna:

“If God exists and wants to use the JCM, he will do it with you or without them. And if he wants to use those who resign, he will still use them whether they are in the JCM or not. So everyone should sit and see both sides win.”

Why did Pastor Charles Wachira leave JCM?

The departure of Pastor Teddy is the third event, because on the same day when President William Ruto visited JCM, Pastor Charles Wachira, who was leading the church’s branch in the United States, also resigned.

In his statement, Wachira said his decision was based on concerns about the leadership of the church and the recent actions taken in public which allegedly disturbed some believers.

He emphasized that the church should always be attentive to the challenges and sufferings of the people.
