Ng’eno and five other people died on February 28 after their helicopter caught fire in Mosop, Nandi County.
As family and friends remember their loved ones, Ng’eno’s legacy has attracted much attention. His dedication and service to his constituents earned him many accolades which explained why his citizens elected him three times in a row.
More than his political work, those who spoke about his personal life witnessed the kind of person he was in his family life.

“He was a very family man. I even have a message from him welcoming me to his wife’s pregnancy celebrations, but I was often on the road. He traveled with his wife even on parliamentary trips, and he was very dedicated to his family,” said Minister Soipan Tuya while offering condolences.
How friends persuaded Johana Ng’eno to marry
The question that attracted many people was why the beloved member of parliament was late to marry.
At the memorial service held on March 4, his friend and fellow MP Kimani Ichung’wah recalled how they used to persuade him to get married, recounting a joke that made the mourners laugh for a while.
“Some of us were bothering him to get married because he was still unmarried despite his age. But the one who led that was Senator Oburu. We were together in the Investment Committee of the Parliament, and every time we went to rest in Mombasa to write a report, Oburu used to bring his young wife and tell Johana, ‘You my boy, you saw that I came with me, do your best,’” said Ichung’wah while the mourners laughed.
He also thanked Oburu for the role he played in convincing Ng’eno to finally marry.
Ng’eno finally married his wife Nayianoi Ntutu in August 2018 at the age of 44, in a lavish ceremony attended by various leaders from across the country.
The two were blessed with two daughters, who are now being raised by their mother.
In a previous interview, Ng’eno said he was in no hurry to get married, wanting first to fulfill his personal dreams and develop his career.
Despite pressure from his mother, friends and even his voters, some of whom threatened him not to vote for him again until he marries the MP, he stuck to his plan.
“When I was seeking re-election, the voters said they would not vote for me again if I didn’t get married. I thought about all my success in getting a degree, a master’s degree, and even becoming a member of parliament and I realized it was time to get married,” he said.
