Taita Taveta – At least six people have been confirmed dead following a fatal accident on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
On Thursday, March 5, a speeding Chania Executive bus collided head-on with a trailer in Manyatta area of Taita Taveta county.
How did the Chania company bus collide with the trailer?
According to reports, the accident occurred after the PSV bus lost control shortly before it was hit by a trailer in a busy area.
According to initial reports, the bus driver was trying to pass when the truck hit the bus, damaging its right side, before the vehicle left the highway.
The accident caused the passenger car to be badly damaged, while all six passengers, who were sitting on the driver’s side, died.
Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment.
Emergency personnel and police rushed to the scene to rescue survivors and clean up the wreckage. Investigations are beginning to determine the cause of the accident in one of the busiest transport corridors in Kenya.
