This comes after he was linked to the murder of his wife, whose lifeless body was discovered in a house in Roysambu.
The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia, reportedly surrendered to authorities in Naivasha after being sought by detectives investigating the murder of 43-year-old Florence Nyagah.
Detectives found that Nyagah was in the house with an officer of DCI the night before the murder.
Police sources indicated that Macharia, who works at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, is currently being held in the cells of the Naivasha Police Station.
He is expected to be transferred to Nairobi today, Wednesday, March 4, while detectives continue to collect the circumstances surrounding the murder.
How was the body of Florence Nyagah discovered?
Nyagah’s body was discovered inside his second floor apartment at Faiths Apartments on Lumumba Drive in Roysambu area in Kasarani.
Investigators believe the fatal incident occurred on Friday, February 28, although the discovery was made the following day.
The case first came to light after Nyagah’s daughter became increasingly worried when repeated attempts to reach her mother by phone went unanswered.
The two had communicated earlier that afternoon via video call.
According to investigators, the last confirmed contact with Nyagah was on Saturday, February 28 at about 3.41pm during a video call with her daughter.
Later that evening, and throughout the next day, his phone went unanswered, causing alarm within the family.
Worried about the silence, the daughter decided to visit the house on Sunday, March 1 and that’s when she discovered her mother lying on the floor.
The issue was quickly reported at the Kasarani Police Station, prompting a response from officers who took action to secure the scene.
