Ng’eno died after the helicopter he was traveling with fell in Chepkiep forest, Nandi County.
Initial reports indicate that bad weather and poor visibility played a major role in the accident.
Where was Ng’eno a few hours before his death?
The MP started his day at Emurua Dikirr before flying to Mara Rianta and then Endebess.
From there, the helicopter headed to the airport Eldoret before returning to Endebess to pick up the deceased.
From Endebess, the helicopter began its final journey to Nairobi. During the flight, it landed briefly in Tabolwa, reportedly due to bad weather, before taking off again and later crashing shortly after.
Ng’eno was inspecting the effects of the floods in the area, which caused several families to evacuate their homes and two people were reported missing.
Whose event did he attend before his death?
While in Endebess, Ng’eno visited a local musician, Hillary Juma Chemos, who told about their last conversation.
Speaking to NTVJuma said that the member of parliament arrived at his home at seven o’clock in the afternoon for an event celebrating 35 years in music.
He said Ng’eno was happy, laughing and playing, but explained that he would be leaving shortly afterwards to attend other activities.
“After nine o’clock in the afternoon, he said it was time to leave. He got into the helicopter and left,” Juma explained.
The musician said he was shocked when he heard the news of the accident.
He revealed that they were discussing ways to promote his music, while Ng’eno promised to talk to the President William Ruto about helping him.
“He should have lifted me up and wiped my tears because I have been a musician for many years without any help. This was the first time I would get help,” he said sadly.
Juma wondered if the MP’s visit to his event, which was the last one he attended, was like a farewell gesture.
He also noted that Ng’eno encouraged him and other musicians to rely on President Ruto for support.
“He told me not to worry because he would talk to the President about me. He even asked if my song was on YouTube and if it had a video. I had high hopes that my life would change. Now he’s gone, I’m heartbroken; I don’t know who will help me like him,” Juma added while crying.
