Ng’eno died along with five other people after the helicopter they were traveling in crashed in Chepkiep forest, Mosop, Nandi County.
Reports indicate that bad weather and poor visibility played a major role in the tragedy. Eyewitnesses explained that the pilot first lowered the chopper, consulted with the locals about the weather, and then took off again a few minutes before the accident happened.
Following Ng’eno’s death, the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula appointed a team of MPs to manage the funeral arrangements and coordinate support for the family of the late MP.
The team, led by Tinderet Member of Parliament Julius Melly and Buuri Member of Parliament Mugambi Rindikiri, has already been sent to Ngeno’s family in Nairobi, where he lived with his young family. The politician is survived by his wife, Nayianoi Ntutu, and two daughters.
