These newspapers also report on the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei following US and Israeli strikes.

1. The Standard

This publication reports the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which occurred following joint US-Israeli airstrikes launched in various areas of Iran after talks failed on the nuclear deal.

On Sunday, March 1, the President of the United States Donald Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death in a lengthy post on the Social Truth forum.

In his statement, Trump said that one of the most evil people in history is dead, and said that it is justice for the Iranian people and the Americans.

“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead. This is not just justice for the people of Iran, but for all the great Americans and those people from many countries around the world, who have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloody thugs,” Trump said.

A joint team from the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has already begun investigating the plane crash that killed MP Johanna Ng’eno, pilot George Were, Kenya Forest Service ranger Amos Kipngetich Rotich, photographer Nick Kosgei, teacher Robert Kipkoech Keter of the Narok county government and Protocol Officer Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono.

On Sunday, March 1, investigators recovered critical equipment from AS350 helicopter registration 5Y-DSB, marking an important step in the last-minute merger.

The wreckage, which was largely destroyed by fire, was cordoned off while investigative teams took aircraft and other technical equipment that could help determine the cause of the crash.

Nandi County Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi confirmed that investigators from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch found the helicopter’s black box and other important equipment.

These components will be analyzed to determine if mechanical failure, pilot error, or bad weather contributed to the accident.

Eyewitnesses said the helicopter made an emergency landing in the Chepkiep area around half past ten at night due to bad weather, including thick fog and rain.

The pilot reportedly consulted with local residents for about 10 minutes before attempting to resume flight.

According to the villagers, the people inside were seen moving fast, which made the pilot to leave despite heavy fog and occasional rains.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the helicopter that crashed in Nandi County on Saturday, February 28, was flying at a very low altitude when it hit trees and crashed, killing Ng’eno and five other people.

With the initial results released, Narok governor Ole Ntuntu appealed to pilots to avoid risking their lives by flying in bad weather.

“We ask the pilots and captains to follow the rules of aviation to avoid such tragedies,” said Ole Ntutu.
