Johanna Ng’eno: Witness Says Helicopter That Killed MP Exploded Immediately After Emergency Landing

Witnesses have narrated the shocking incident of the helicopter that crashed on the evening of Saturday, February 28, killing MP Johanna Ng’eno and five other people inside.

The Nandi County police commander, Samuel Mukuusi, confirmed the helicopter crash, which happened just hours after the MP posted a video inside the helicopter involved in the tragedy.

Speaking to Citizen TVthe witnesses of the incident are now recounting the horrific events they witnessed when the helicopter crashed, with one of them revealing that it initially made an emergency landing.

One host revealed that the weather was foggy.

“We heard a helicopter, and it was about to make an emergency landing. It was hovering, looking for a place to land, and it landed. Then I saw that one of the passengers was asking the pilot to continue the journey. When it took off, it crashed two minutes later,” he said.

Another man revealed that the helicopter crashed after hitting trees, and the bodies of the occupants were scattered across the crash site.

Pictures from the crash site have also been trending online, showing massive flames and smoke. Reports indicate that the helicopter crashed about 300 meters from where it made an emergency landing.

Kenyans join the leaders in mourning the MP

Since the news of the helicopter was announced, many have used social media to mourn the MP and other victims, including the President William Ruto.

The head of state praised the member of parliament as his friend, an eloquent and fearless leader.

“I received with great shock and great sadness the news this evening of the death of the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, Mr. Johana Ng’eno. My friend, Mr. Ng’eno, was a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County,” he said.

In other news, a man from Eldoret he is now recounting his last moments with MP Ng’eno, even revealing that he joined him in the helicopter for the trip from Eldoret to Endebess on the morning of Saturday, February 28.

Speaking in a video shared on Facebook, a young man identified as Engineer Kipchirchir Mosonik, who was a close friend of the late MP, said that he was one of those who marched with Ng’eno on Saturday, and had even boarded the damaged helicopter.

“We were on our way to Endebess in Mt Elgon to attend a musician’s event. The MP asked me to accompany him, and I was picked up at the airport in Eldoret,” he said.
