A few hours earlier, the member of parliament had visited his constituency after two young men were washed away by floods.

“This morning, I joined the families of the late Snr Chief Ole Rurumo and Ole Kipembeu and the search and rescue team in Mara Rianta to stand in solidarity as they tried to find and find the bodies of two young men whose car was swept away by the waters of the Mara River on Sunday night. My heart goes out to the affected families as they endure this painful and uncertain time.”

Ngeno also called on the public to remain vigilant during the rainy season, especially near rivers and flooded roads.

Videos shared by the MP a few hours ago show him sitting next to the pilot flying over the river.

A gospel song calling out to God was played in the background.

“Don’t go away from me, don’t leave me alone, my God, make me sleep,” the words of the Upendo Nkone song say.

When he arrived on the ground, Ngeno contacted Red Cross officials, journalists, and local residents.

Many Kenyans noted that they could not believe that the MP had died a few hours after sharing the post at 1:43pm.
